im the proud owner of a 25th anniv. silver legacy turbo. the other night as im driving home from work crusing at about 40 or so, the speedo suddenly drops off to 0mph and the check engine light comes on at the same time, not to mention the odometer and trip clock froze too. now is it just me or does this sound very strange that the CEL should have anything to do with the speedo?? i know a fair ammount about this car but not as much as some of you guys so i need some help! also if it matters at all, my cruise controll wont work anymore either! ugh.

Welcome to the club.
If you read the stickies you'll find instructions on how to read the code that tripped the CEL.
But anyhow -- the vehicle speed sensor is built into the speedometer, and the absence of the VSS signal is what tripped your CEL. I would suspect your speedometer cable. The part where it attaches to the transmission seems to fail sometimes. A quick search will yield lots of information.
