Tonight after going to pick up my brother from a friends, when I put the car into reverse the engine reved up and the car moved sligtly backwards but it clearly was going hardly anywhere. Basically it felt like the car was in neutral. I tried turing it off and back on and put it into reverse again but nothing happened. When I finally got home after pushing the car back I tried to see if the problem was fixed but still nothing. Its a 93' Legacy Touring wagon. Any ideas?
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin-do you have an auto trans? (I know this sounds dumb but I need to confirm.) If so, you probably have the dreaded JATCO syndrome & your tranny basically needs a rebuild or an exchange. If all other gears are not sloppy when shifting, then it`s most likely just a linkage issue (hope for your wallet it`s the latter!) good luck, as I`ve been where you are-ROD (AZ.)

Car Won't go in reverse
Yes its an Auto transmission and from what I remember last night, the other gears felt fine so like you said I'm hoping for linkage problem.
THanks for your help,
Kevin
