The nut on the end of the axle will take a 32mm socket.

Don't forget a punch or something to unstake the nut.

Yep, 32mm. Not 30mm.

A 1-1/4" socket also fits.

dead on information, big thanks, you saved me a lot of time and trouble. i tried to get info on replacing the hub assembly but its not overly complicated. i think the hardest part is finding the socket size :P. thanks again, i really love this site, its made its way to my home page rather quickly ;)

thanks, yea b4 i attempted to take a look at whats going on i figured i would get some facts. it "sounds" like i have a loose nut at the end of the shaft, getting a weird random clunk. comes and goes. *shrugs*.

Antiroll bar bushings, maybe.

no idea quite yet what it is. if it had a pattern i could pretty much detect the source, but it comes and goes. its got some work to it yet. where are these parts you speak of anyway so i know exactly what to look for?? when i had it on the lift pre-purchase, i only had play on the inner tie rod of the passenger side, but i have this "noise" on the driver side front. its also making a bad bearing type noise as well, but it had zero play on the lift. im thinking its just not secure enough as it should be @ the cv shaft, its happened b4 on a previous car. oh well, i'll enlighten everyone when i get to it. prob not gonna be for a while, not in any rush for repairs. thanks for the insight!

ok....ordering new struts this week i belive the sound is coming from the front struts (makes the noise when i push down on the front), or possibly the strut mounts. either way, very much looking forward to this repair!!!
