fuel cut/ boost differences at varying altitudes?

That spinning thing that makes all of the cool noises. OE and Aftermarket.

and my 3 sources for building your FCD wouldn't do it b/c it sounded too risky to them.

if anyone build's Vrg's FCD i will pay cash for a legit working one that won't blow up my car. ;)

think you could swing it maybe Vikash?
not now of course...
Same for me. Of course Zach would be first in line.

Yes, it does seem to take atmospheric pressure into account. It seems everybody can run just shy of 13 psi of boost before the ECU cuts fuel.

Maybe I should do a little group buy on FCDs? I gotta get these scan tools dealt with first though...

It was my understanding that compensating for altitude was part of what the stock system was designed to do.

I am considering building some EFCDs, I could use some extra project money to move my stroker build along. These would be bare bones simple versions without indicator LEDs or enclosures. Ballpark numbers would be $10.00 for materials at Radio Shack pricing. This would be cheaper if I order in quantity from another source, if the need supports that. And once I’m in the swing of things I think I can assemble and test at about an hour a piece. I value my “home workshop time at $25.00 pre hour, so were looking at $35.00 or so plus shipping. In the ballpark?

I'm definitely down to pay $35+shipping for one of them!! Put me on the list. I'm sure you can count Zach in too.

Gary - Yeah, I've seen that in the service manual too... It does seem to still keep fuel cut at the same gauge level though from what I can tell.

And don't use LM324s from Radio Shack -- save some money and also use parts designed for the temperature range they'll be seeing by ordering LM224s from Mouser or Newark or Digikey.

I have a Chris Piano FCD (vrg3's FCD design) that I never used (my v-clamp worked!!) that I'll let go pretty cheap.
PM me if you have interest.

Get that boost over 10psi!!!

So stock fuel cut is at 12.xxpsi? On my SS I'm hitting my fuel cut at 16psi for more than 3 seconds. I live in Colorado,a mile above sea level I'm using the stock ecu with out the electric purge control solenoid, with a turbo xs MBC could it be that since I'm at higher altitude that the air is less dense? Or maybe my 236,xxx mile ecu is wearing out? I'm currently set a 8 psi for emissions but its usually set at 15psi but spikes at 16 psi and tappers back down

we still don't know. my original question wasn't really answered.

the stock internals can handle the boost well above 13psi
