EJ22 Service Bulletin on Code 13 and engine stalls

Post by iiigoiii »

I just came across an old EJ22 service bulletin, which has some additional info on the Code 13 for 1990-1995 Legacys, thought I'd post it here as an FYI.

"If you are diagnosing an SPI vehicle...and there is a Code 13 in the
ECU memory, do not replace the crank angle sensor just yet. It is
normal for Code 13 to be found in the ECU memory if the vehicle's
engine has stalled for any reason. We suggest that you clear the ECU
memory and road test the vehicle. IF Code 13 has come back and the
vehicle did not stall during the road test, then there maybe something
wrong and a thorough check of the crank angle sensor system may be
performed at this time."

The only odd thing about this is that my docs show the 13 to be the *CAM* angle sensor; either they're so interrelated or they made a mistake? Anyone hear about this?
