Rant: this is why I don't trust repair shops...

Post by dman »

So I though that my brakes felt weak, and the rear rotors stayed rusty even though I drove the car few hundred miles since I bought it. So I thought that calipers got stuck or smth. Wrong. Some repair shop, the previous owner went too (I'm pretty sure he couldn't have done it himself) decided that it was too hard for them to order correct parts.
Who else would put non-vented rotors in the rear instead of vented ones?

I even seems that it worked to a short while, since inside/outside pads are a bit unevenly worn.

Damn, dman. Yeah, I don't trust repair shops worth a lick. Even the dealers around me are like WTF when my car shows up. If it's not a WRX, STI, or Outback, most places seem to have never heard of our cars. I've had to do a lot of searching to find what the good parts are on this forum, but here's one place to get what you need.

Or if you want good ones, I went here:

http://www.racepages.com/

Though I don't see the DBA 4000's that I got for my rears there, but my front Powerslots are. I got the cryo treated ones.

I have EBC Red Stuffs all around, too.

Thanks. Parts are not an issue, I was changing rotors/pads (redstuff as well) anyway, its just saddens me when shops overlook smth that is clearly a safety issue.

True that. That's why I do most of my work myself. I can only blame myself when I lose a caliper bolt and come to a screaching halt. Though I wish I had paid Tires Plus the $20 to rotate my tires and do a safety check two weeks earlier.
