removing aut tranny with torque converter still bolted up
I am currently removing my auto tranny in my 1991 ss, i cannot get to the bolts for the flexplate to tourqe converter off. can i drop the tranny without undoing these bolts???
Yes, but you need extra room to seperate them.
Do not allow any sideways pressure or binding on the torque convertor. You will stand a very good chance of ruining the pump in the transmission.
You will need to get those bolts off eventually because the chances of succesfully reinstalling the trans with this method is practically nil.
I would spend a bit more time and try to get them out first.
