Tire fit?

Post by cguzz »

Got a 91 Legacy L Wagon and I'm looking to get a set of 02' WRX rims. They have 225/50/16 tires on. Anyone know if they'll fit?

The Tire Rack site reccomends 205/50/16 and I think the WRX oem size was 205/55/16.

I don't want to change the ride height necessarily. Anyone have any suggestions? I can't wait to get rid of these squirrely 14's :)

They won't clear your stock struts, or the fenders without rolling.

What size tire do I need? Will 205/55/16 work without modding fenders?

it should. I had that size with stock suspension with no problems, and so have a lot of others. A few people had some rubbing though.

Would 205/50 be a better choice?

what do you mean by "a better choice"? it will be a lower profile and a slightly smaller tire circumference wise.

yeah, it is a better choice, being the stock diameter, lower profile, and a lighter tire.

I'm trying to find a used set and almost everything available is 205/55.
