AEM Truboost
I bought an AEM Truboost the other day. It's an awesome boost gauge with a digital read-out that also has an electronic boost controller built into it.
I installed the boost gauge portion of it, but I cannot for the life of me figure out this EBC.
I'm supposed to enter the spring pressure (of the wastegate I believe) and the duty cycle. I want to run 10 lbs of boost so what numbers do I need to enter?
I was fiddling with it and tried to enter the wastegate boost of 5psi but I couldn't boost more than that, so I entered 10psi and I could actually boost up to that but then it instantly tapers to about 6psi.
I'M SO CONFUSED!! Hahaha.

Re: AEM Truboost
I have no experience with that particular controller but they all work fairly similarly. Set your intended pressure as you did, but sounds as you need to increase your duty-cycle to 'hold' boost. You hit your boost peak but dropped off. Then continue to bump up your duty cycle. You will be fine.asc_up wrote: I was fiddling with it and tried to enter the wastegate boost of 5psi but I couldn't boost more than that, so I entered 10psi and I could actually boost up to that but then it instantly tapers to about 6psi.

The wastegate spring pressure is the pressure at which the controller will begin using the entered duty cycle. As in the solenoid will stay closed completely until that pressure, then begin cycling at the entered duty cycle at any pressure above that.
With this boost controller, you don't really set the pressure you want to run, but the duty cycle it takes to maintain that pressure.
I set my spring pressure to 6 PSI and about 55 duty cycle (I think). That was right around 10 PSI in normal street driving. At the track, I had to back the duty cycle down to 25, otherwise it would creep up to just over 12 in the straightaways.
Later, I had to drop the spring pressure down to 4 PSI, otherwise it had a bad tendency to fluctuate if it was right around 6 PSI (it would fluctuate above and below rapidly, thus opening and shutting the wastegate rapidly).

Went looking for a Manual boost controller and a boost gauge today to start preperation for my '06 intercooler install.
Guy there ran up some prices, then said that I would actually be better off with one of these units. (AEM Truboost).
Was more expensive than I was looking to drop on the spot ($296) and I figured I better get comments from the peanut gallery before I actually made that sort of (Monitary)Commitment.
You've had it for a bit now. how is it working for you? Would you suggest using one of these for a daily driver?

Lol well I gave up with it and just have a MBC with with boost gauge still hooked up (just not using the boost controller).
My friend has one in his Evo and it seems to work ok.

I am still having an issue with getting a fluctuating boost signal, so I have mine turned off ATM.

Do you guys with the AEM setup know what frequency the MAC BCS likes? I was running a GM unit, but the variance from forth to 5th and 6th was like 6-7psi. I thought I 'd give this thing a shot.
The GM unit like 20hz, but the MAC one does not even work at that frequency. The MAC one is about half the resistance though.
