You don't need a sunroof for them to break in. My stereo cost $150 10 years ago and my ipod comes with me. I suppose they could steal the transponder, but someone that desperate will break in just to steal the change out of your console. In Detroit, I had a homeless dude jump into my open passenger window at a light to take a soda can and 15 cents out of my console. That's what I got for not paying attention. But I've parked my cars in all manner of bad places - just never leave things visible.

Yeah, but only one.
ECS strikes again. And again; I went for my NYS inspection, they found the right strut missing one nut and the other one was loose, on the two big steering knuckle bolts. Nice.
Wired up the city lights today... Meh. Sorta cool. I want a LED setup.
Here's a few shots of the interior now.
New carpet, leather seats, stainless STI sill plates.

Looks nice. You should cover the dash in matching leather.

Did you have to do some creative wire splicing or something to get it to work with that steering wheel? I have a Nardi steering wheel as well, and I want to get the horn working.Aerotech wrote:Yeah, but only one.

No wiring, but you might need to re-arrange a slip ring contact, bend it or something, to make sure it has constant contact.Fkyx wrote:

what car did the seats come from?
i need some new front seats..

They are the same seats, '02 WRX, I re-covered them with a leather kit I got on Ebay. I just got the rear bottom finished today, it was a little more difficult, the cushions are not exactly identical, but close enough to fit without modification. Clipped off all the hogrings, and used zip-ties to fasten the new upholstery.
The upper section...it would basically fit right on, but I don't want to lose the splt fold-down function. That piece of the kit has to be carefully taken apart, and modified with extra material to fit my seatback. I might be up to the task, but I don't own a sewing machine, at least not one capable of doing leather.

And you're using the stock horn harness? No wiring, but you might need to re-arrange a slip ring contact, bend it or something, to make sure it has constant contact.

Have you contacted ECS about all the issues, or have they just washed their hands of you?
As I said before, I was very unimpressed with their work. It's sloppy at best, and the first MY or type of any of the swaps they perform appear to be riddled with problems.

About $200, back in '03. Junkyard in PA, it was the first WRX they ever got.SubaruNation wrote:how much did you pay for the seats?
But not the last.
Nope... I don't particularly care to deal with them again, even to correct their errors, and I'm damn sure not letting them near the car. I'd rather fix it myself, and know it was done right the first time. Besides, it's a 3 hour driveHave you contacted ECS about all the issues, or have they just washed their hands of you?

Supervisor Tape. (Two faced!) They come pre-taped. This was a set for a new Legacy, the front looks perfect, but the rear has an odd cut-out that looks a bit off on my car.livestrong14 wrote:Looking good! How are the door sills attatched?
I secured them to the original plastic sill covers.

I don't blame you, and I'd do the exact same thing. Just curious if you bitched at them at all.Aerotech wrote:Nope... You should send them an invoice for your labor fixing their errors.

Hey,
Car came out looking good Jerry
Anyways, I'm just the shipping guy around there, but as far as the issues go, i think i might shed some light on them.
As far as the wiring goes that probably was ecs's fault. The mechanics checking all the wiring with a continuity tester and everything checked out. I'm assuming that the connector was loose or something and it was making a connection sometimes which lead them to believe it wasn't the wiring. And as you said, you had a old battery in there so it didn't crank long. The temp sensor was changed, i know that for a fact because we had to use a newer style crossover pipe for the 2.5 block
The front chamber bolt issue. We had taken the car to be aligned at a outsource alignment shop right after the swap. They were the last ones to touch the car. We admit that we should have looked it over after, but I'm mean how many people would actually look everything over after a service like that? I know i didn't until i read your post about that.
The rear lateral links were eyeballed in since the rear sway bar was not attached to them so we figured you would have tried taking care of that yourself and had it aligned after.
Sorry for all the issues you had, but we tried to make it up to you with all the free labor we put into your car installing all those extra parts you asked us to and pushing the dealership real hard to take care of the 2.5 block that had been washed out because of the faulty injectors.
But anyways whats done is done and we appreciate everyone's comments so we can use that to better ourselves.
Thank You
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for the reply...As you know, I'm not one to bitch about stuff, but I just keep finding this sort of thing, and that last one was potentially life-threatening. I did not know you'd had it outsourced, so we're cool on that point. Bitch retracted.
The car is running great, by the way. That wire was right under the coolant manifold, it might have been pinched, but it was definitely broken inside the original wrap.
Got almost 1K on it, going to do the first oil change next week. Very happy with the motor, the power is phenomenal (not as good as your sled, tho
) just right for the car. I'll probably plug in the Haltech later this summer to see what happens.
Jerry
ps Any sign of the pictures? Paul had some on the red camera, I'd like them e-mailed to me if they're not going up on the site.
Thanks!

That is completely understandable and i agree with you 100%. I'm just sorry we didn't catch that ourselves. I will talk to Paul tomorrow about the pictures and make sure it goes up along with them being emailed to you.Aerotech wrote:Hi Adrian,

Adrian,
Can I make a suggestion regarding the wiring. You guys did an 05 STi drivetrain swap on a green 98 Impreza RS for a guy here in Houston. He had similar issues with the wiring, possibly a crimp connector coming loose.
It seems like the wiring connector coming loose is not an isolated incident, and maybe some additional care/time should be put into the wiring crimping to make sure they don't come loose.

Jerry,
This Thread was just brought to my attention, please send me an email detailing any additional costs that may have been an out of pocket expense due to our error. Also, i apologize for not getting you the build pictures, the words busy and hectic do not even come close to describing my days here at ECS. If there is anything else i am missing please include it in the email. And again, as Adrian has already said, we truly are sorry about the problems that have arose and we will do what we can to correct them

I just want to restate that it wasn't an ECS crimp that caused the problem, it was a broken wire in the original section of the RS-RA temp sender harness. Still should have been caught, but not directly their fault.
