Mechanic Richard Buckner

My car has a handful of modifications, therefore my local dealer and most other mechanics approach it with a combination of fear, loathing, ignorance, condescention and general bad attitude. I try not to let anyone with a bad attitude get near my car.

My experience with Richard Buckner was entirely positive. He rebuilt my 5-speed with upgraded synchros and now it shifts much much much better than when it was brand new. He also put in a WRX Group N clutch which hooks up nicely and is very streetable. While working on my car he pointed out the various minor leaks and areas that would require servicing at some point in the future. None of his work required any follow-up at all. He has great knowledge, a spot in his heart for our cars and is all-around great.

Even though Richard is 400 miles away, I consider him to be the official mechanic of my car from this point forward. I would rather drive to Portland OR and leave my car with Richard for a weekend than let some hammerhead in my home town infect it with his bad attitude.

where exactly is Richard Buckner in Portland? Or maybe even a phone
number? I would LOVE to have a good mechanic, that doens't complain
about how my air-water intercooler "is an aftermarket item, that
doesn't belong on a car". Thank you very much, -Zak

PS My water circulation system is set up for the intercooler. I am
using a 3GPM (continuously rated) pump from Jabsco, and about a
square foot transmission cooler. I have a nifty little switch to the
right of the steering wheel, that I can just flick on and off. Great
setup! Next, the 3" stainless exhaust, when I get some cash.

Zak-

Richard is in Hillsboro. Try emailing him 1st, tho. Rsbuckner@aol.com or
rbuckner@royalmoore.com. If you can make it out to the rallycross this
weekend, i believe that he's going to be out there. more info on that is at
http://www.oregonrally.com/events/rallyx_oct14_01.html. I'll be there with
my '90 Legacy LS AWD, but i won't be running it.

I'm acutally up at UW or else I would try and get down there. My
hometown is Portland, so I'm down there a bunch. Great town, Seattle
is just a tad big for me.
