On the 92-94's, the
headlights seems to be straight and level across their top, and
although the hoods curve, they don't angle down towards the grill. I
know i did an atrocious job explaining that. Anyway, I think i wrote
down some sites with picts of 91 and 92s for people to compare. I am
really worried about this.

Well first off i still think the 91 model year still out number the other years.. (although i don't have all the differant years of those interested) so you'll be getting a 91 hood for you 91 car.. so i don't see your perticular problem.. But i can see others might be haveing this issue if they have a differant years. All i can say is from what i saw at the dealership, 92-94 all had the SAME part number for the turbo hood, 91 had a differant part number.. BUT all the hood latches, hinges, bolts, clips, etc... all had the same numbers thru all the years which means mounting points and latch points never changed.. Now i can't conferm or deny that there will be an overlap or gap in the fiberglass hood..They don't exsist.. so i cannot give you specifics about something that dosen't exsist..

I recently hit a deer with my '91 turbo and I ordered a new hood.
When it arrived I tried to fit my scoop to it but it wouldn't work.
The hood itself fit on the car with no probs. I ended up sending it
back and getting the right hood. Damn what one digit can do in a part
no. Anyways, the scoop from a '91 is slightly smaller than the '92-94
style. My car is the canadian version but I checked the part no's on
the net with a site in the states and they were the same. Hope this
helps.

Actually it does.. other that a smaller scoop (which dosen't matter anyways as ours will have it attached) it fit his car which only bolsters the fact that the hoods are interchangable..

Fiberglass hood differances and recent questions

Post by TurboSubie91@aol.com »

Well, i'd like to settle this quickly so if anybody in the seattle area with a 91 Legacy Turbo would like to meet and do a quick hood swap to see the exact differences I would be interested. I have owned a 91 Legacy Turbo and I currently own a 93 and I can tell for sure the 93 hood is rounded more and shaped different. I want to know how they would look on each other. I dont want to buy a 91 fiberglass hood for my 93 if it is going to look funny.
let me know if anybody is interested,
Ian D.

Cool...if its going to be a 91 hood, my problems are resolved. Thats
great...I am really excited about this. I think that worst case
scenario, some might have to swap headlights and grills.

Well no i don't think that will happen.. I will say MAYBE grills.. but at 200bucks or more for a single headlight it's more of a question of sanding back the hood on problem areas.. again this is where a profectional bodyshop comes in.

By the way if all those interested can e-mail me some time soon about the year car they have?

Ian, et. al.

Saturday next week would be best (27th). But I think our friends here would like to have some pictures of the swap. So here's what I think: we should meet early morning next week when the sun is just breaking - optimal lighting conditions for photography. Drive time, swap, pictures, swap back, drive time home it will probably take the morning out of our day.

What say ye? Oh, and let's take the rest of this conversation off-line for now... this message will serve to satiate everyones necessity to know someone is doing this.

-Sambo

P.S. What color is your car? This is gonna look really funny! 2 guys in a Denny's parking lot switching the hoods on their cars and taking pictures :^D
