where is the fuel filter located on a 1991 sport
sedan? I'm going to replace it tomorrow morning... any
brands that any one recommends? part numbers? any tips
on replacing it? i would imagine its pretty simple
just have to watch out for gas going everywhere...can
someoen tell me where its located...what it looks like?

fuel filter
As you face your engine from the front, it`s on the right side very close to the windshield water bottle. It looks like a canister & has a couple of hoses running from it. Use a bolt to block the hoses as you remove them, but have a towel ready as there`s always some gas that gets by. I`d recommend a factory filter for your Subie; they`re the correct size, good quality & priced reasonably. They`re all I`ve used for 164k miles with zero problems. Good luck---ROD (AZ.)

unplug the fuel pump(should be under the rear bench seat on the
passenger side) and run the engine until it dies then unplug the
battery. you'll still get a little gas here and there but not like
you would if you didn't unplug the pump.

I got by the pressure problem by changing the filter first thing in the morning before starting the car....
