So is this gonna be a RWD Impreza Coupe...

My guess is that it'll get the 2.5L WRX motor...

Not Impreza, totally new.

All is still rumor other than something will be built jointly between Subaru and Toyota.

I saw Motorweek this past Sat. where they tested the Pontiac Vibe / Toyota Matrix & one of the available motors looks exactly like a New Gen WRX/Legacy motor - black plastic intake manifold & all.

The new AE86 Corolla is supposed to be RWD, wonder if this will be a Impreza/Corolla shared model?

Subaru just had a N/A concept impreza (I think) around 200hp, I can't remember what show it was at. I think it was in one of my Sport Compact Car's in the past few months or so. It was from Tokyo Auto Salon from this year. It was 5 door, NA 2.0l 197hp 145lb-ft, with dual non-turbo AVCS, Sti wheels, bucket seats and bigger brakes. Some pics

I heard the AE86 is supposed to get a de-stroked 1.6 EJ! Hot!

That and this new Subaru RWD are the most exciting cars to come along in a while as far as I am concerned

I'm waiting for the day that we see diesel blocks converted to gas running incredible boost numbers for drag cars.

I'm personally involved in doing just that for a volkswagen currently

convert it to gas? thats uninovation, ill stick with extreme lowend torque
you better bet that as soon as i get my hands on a diesel Subaru im putting some big ass pipes on that thing and cranking up the fuel and boost. i want it to sound like a f**king 18 wheeler!

The diesel won't sound like an 18-wheeler - the EE20 seems to actually sound very much like the gas engine per youtube video with ubiquitous shitty music playing over it.

neither do diesel pickups, but they sure do when you put straight pipes on them
ive seen a couple of videos, they sound just like VW diesels
