WTB in southcentral PA: 70A alternator (for '92 Legacy L)

Post by Siper2 »

Hey all. I'm in need of an alternator in good shape, to fit a '92 Legacy L (non turbo). Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc. say it's a 70 amp unit. I'm fine buying from one of them, but figured I'd see if someone had a cheaper used one. Best price I can find is $118 not including core charge.

Thanks! I can do PayPal, personal or bank check, or money order. I'm new here, but a Guru on NASIOC, and a Super Moderator on RS25.com. Feedback if you need it:

Contact Blackbart (Frank) on here. He's in NEPA & typically has stuff like that laying around. Frank is usually pretty fair with prices on used parts. Also, there are 2 shops up in my area that deal with used Subaru parts I can put you in touch with.

If you have a junkyard near by pretty much any alternator from a Subaru (or nearly any other similar era japanese car) will fit assuming you snag the plug with it.

Does the amperage matter? I'd assume that it does, but is there like a range that's acceptable?

Anything equal to or greater than stock would be fine. Nice username btw ;)

I should clarify my last post in saying that the mounting tabs have to be the same. I know that my friends 98? sentra has a "subaru" alternator.
