Radiator breather valve?
I just bought a new radiator and installed it. Everything went well but I'm not sure about something. On the left side (passenger side) of the radiator there's a small, horizontally oriented plastic tube that points toward the engine compartment. I seem to remember this being a breather valve of some kind. It doesn't have any kind of plug though and it came that way. I plugged it because I wouldn't think you'd want an opening to the coolant system but I'm not sure I should have. Anyone know if it needs to be plugged or not.

Yeah that sounds like a turbo radiator.
If it's a turbo radiator, it shouldn't have a radiator cap on it either.
That tube from the radiator goes to the coolant expansion tank.

Yes it is a turbo radiator. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have an SS. This valve is on the left side. Are you saying that it is supposed to be connected to the reservoir? The valve in question IS on top of the radiator, came without a cap. It is not the overflow tank.

Yes...it should be connected to the coolant expansion tank that is bolted to the intake manifold.Tleg93 wrote:Yes it is a turbo radiator. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have an SS. There should be a metal hard line that is bolted to the intake manifold. There are rubber hoses that then connect the radiator to the expansion tank.
Anyone have a picture of this. Since my car is frankensteined....I don't have this.
