Anyone know the stock rim width and offset?

Basically what I'm trying to do is get a new set of wheels and tires to get the legacy looking a little bit better. I'm not really interested in going super wide maybe just a little more metal (maybe 15" or 16"). If anyone knows the orignal rim width and offset it would be much appreciated.

Model & year? I'm assuming turbo legacy correct?

I think it's 5" or possibly 5.5. Offset is probably around +53 to +55mm.

Hopefully someone else can give you exact numbers, but those should be in the ball park.

Sorry Josh. The model and year used to be in my signature section. It's a 91 legacy L (was FWD). This is my project car, now its AWD turbo with the H&R sport spring and AGX struts. Still on the stock L rims though.

The FWD rims were 14x5" I think +53mm was the offset.

You could go to 16" rims....you need at very minimum +45mm offset....+48 to +50 mm of offset would probably be recommended to keep from rubbing.

ok, stupid question.
where would a wheel w/o enough offset rub?
if the offset is to low I would think that it would only rub at the fenders.

More offset means the wheel would rub on the spring/strut.
Less offset means the wheel would rub on the fender.

Offset is a measure of space between the center of the wheel to the mounting surface. Some of the deep dish BMW wheels have negative offset.
