kind of a newb to all things turbo.....hopefully posting in the right spot.....
I have an EJ22T out of a 1991 AWD Legacy sedan. When pulling the engine out ,I broke the nipple off of the 'air bypass valve" which is under the intake pipe to the throttle body. The nipple was plumbed to the manifold for vacuum -and the 2 larger ports - 1 from the intake pipe the other -to the intake resonator.
Question - Is this valve the B.O.V.???
I found a blow up of the intake system and Subaru calls this valve an "air bypass valve". My dilemma is the $120 for a new one. I've tried fixing but it just isn't staying together.
Question - do I need to find a Subaru specific valve or is there an aftermarket one available.
Excuse my newbness.....thanks for any input.....

Read up on the atmospheric vent vs recirculation.
That should answer a lot of your questions.
There are aftermarket replacements, and probably a few people on the forum who have spares. I might have a spare.
PM blackbart, as he is always good for spare parts.

I have used a brass barbed fitting to repair one of these for a friend in the past.
I just made the hole big enough that the fitting would thread in tightly & then i put some JB weld around the joint just in case - that bpv is still alive & well.
