What kind of intercooler is this ?

That spinning thing that makes all of the cool noises. OE and Aftermarket.

+1 yep.

looks in very good shape too

hopefully you also have the splitter that connects to those two holes that are showing. then you should find a silicone y-pipe on NASIOC or whatever

that intercooler is the top choice for top mounts because it fits nicely, BUT there are still a bunch of things that must be moved around to make enough space:
- coolant overflow tank relocate
- clutch fluid reservoir shorten
- ignitor relocate
- stock BPV replumbed with flange to replace WRX BOV
- AC lines stuffed under pitch stop (or AC delete)
- i might be forgetting something

and it doesn't quite mate up to the turbo outlet easily b/c of the angle that the stock turbo (VF-11) comes out at. that will take creativity or you can replace your turbo with a more modern one to have geometry that mates perfectly.

as far as physically securing it, most applications I have seen just rely on the plumbing to hold it in place without adding any structural support

I thought the Forester XT and Baja Turbos had the same intercooler as the Legacy GT and WRX with the side entry plastic units that are roughly square?

No, they may differ a bit in mounting and BOV from '06 or '07 WRXs, but are in the same family and have the same core and layout.

So its the 07 and 08 that use the smaller core with plastic tubing?

Just the "new" ones. '08+ for North America. Possibly '07+ for Euro and JDM.

Im just so lazy to do it, its gonna take forever, and i need all the proper flanges and piping. But i just hook the intercooler to the turbo snail (pressurized side) and run it into my intake or what ?
