94 legacy Turbo, Canada
This is my Car, The moter was getting tired and after getting decent results of putting a TD04 and TMIC on it i thought i needed a change. I had bought a moter previously that was planning on going into another car, but we decided against it and put it in this one( not yet though), The body is a little rough but by no means is it unsavable.
its a Green 1994 subaru legacy Turbo, i bought it about 2months ago from an old couple, It had blown struts but a great running moter. Before even getting to the suspension somehow me and my brother came to the conclusion we had blown the turbo, well we hadent but in the end it turned out to become TD04ed and TMIC its not the first time someone had done this. Thats were legacy central came in.
I was hitting bad fuel cut and was maxing out my injectors so i got some injectors and with fatal results, They somehow flooded the moter and i believe i blew a piston ring because there was pools of gas coming out of the exhaust i did my best to fix it and we got it back to where it was previously somehow maybe the ring had re-sealed or something, only god knows.
So onto the pictures we will start from the very begining.
So i didnt Get a chance to get pictures of it torn apart. But i got some pics and videos
It took us 2 weeks to get this done, Because not only did we all had jobs but i had to wait for parts in the mail, here what it looks like when it was done
We had worked,
1st 3 hours (Tore car apart and removed turbo)
2nd 2 hours (fitted the Td04)
3rd Job
4th 3 hours (Scavenged around town for our custom intake)
5th Job
6th 4 hours (put everything back together, for the most part)
7th off
8th off
9th JOB
10th waiting for parts
11th waiting for parts
12th waiting for parts
13th Still waiting
14th Recieved TMIC
15th 2hours (Fabbed up custom elbow)
16th Off
17th 30mins Fitted TMIC
18th 3 hours Relocated coolant resoirvoir attached MBC and drove away
Moved the ignitor to the starter ground
Moved coolant resoirvoir to where a/c formerly was
WE fabed this up with some old metal, looks bad works good
And its a tight sqeeze

It took us about 2 days to do the suspension June 30th- July Second It took about 8 hours total.
Finished Suspension!
It took Us all Day to get this Far, 10 hours, 4 hours we got everything done, 6 hours later no moter out.
Is there a trick for getting these out? WEve tried everything and it just wont come off the lower two moter studs its binding on them and just wont come off!!

WE didnt know About the clutch Fork holding the tranny to moter, With some kind advise from sense of nature on Nasioc
We Got it off, But not after, Removing, the headers, intake, and Heads, We tore it down to a plain block.
The EJ22 Shortblock will be for sale shortly, it will need a new pistons but other than that its in nice shape, make an offer.
Well be taking a break on the car for a couple of Days, then get on two removing the Front bumber to Fab room for the FMIC

I thought the SOHC 2.5s had the same timing triggers as the '02+ WRX which is different than what the ej22t ECU wants to see.
I say dump the 2.5 (they do not like boost on stock pistons) & get a EJ20G.
It is the Quick & easy way to get a TD05-16G (GC8) or TD04 (GF8), 440cc injectors, DOHC heads, & a TMIC + it will run off the stock SS ECU & Sensors - no wiring.

Its not an EJ25, i take the turbo capacity of the EJ22T and the high flowing advantage of subarus heads, this isnt no N/A moter i bought it off a guy running high boost levels and he saw no problems
It will have a TD04 with a FMIC, im keeping the moter, It was built for this application
Plus im almost broke
