Everything else looks ok, and I'd like to try and get it fixed, although the prices for input shafts are @#$!!. So I look for the used parts of course....
I didn't click the link, but to get a WRX gearset to work you need to replace EVERYTHING! All of the shafts, the pinion shaft (and ring gear), the center diff, transfer gears, engagement hubs, everything. Nothing will really bolt up. Even then, I don't suggest rebuilding your own transmission unless you have the experience of building Subaru transmissions.
It's far more than unbolting a few nuts and putting new gears in place of all of the old gears. There are an enormous number of specifications that need to be considered. Every gearset is different and shim spacing can mean the difference between having a perfectly fine transmission and having one that'll eat itself in a hundred miles.
I have definitely come to realize that there isn't any way I'm going to be able to do this myself in the garage, I was just looking to buy cheap parts and then drop it all off at the trans shop.
Is there any parts interchangeability between turbo and NA of the same years? Perhaps getting an NA input shaft cheap(its half the cost of the turbo one) and just a new NA 1st/2nd gears/synchros for the undamaged turbo output shaft?
