LSD swap???
I have a Mint 3.90 lsd rear diff,
anyone want to trade for a 4.11 lsd???
if not, anyone want to buy a 3.90 lsd??

You currently have an open 4.11 differential right? Take it apart, take the 3.9 lsd apart and swap carriers.
End result is an open 3.9 and a 4.11 LSD. I did this by myself with no special tools in my driveway (does a reverse torx driver count?). Keep everything else exactly as it was including the backlash spacers. You don't even have to loosen the pinion bolt!

There's no clutch pack. It's a sealed viscous coupling.
It shouldn't be too difficult once you get everything out and see how it works....but without pictures, it's a little difficult to describe.

Like they said no clutch pack. Only some of the pre Legacy Subarus had clutch based LSD. Yours is most likely viscous if not gear based.1991legacyturbo wrote:i know how to take it out, i put the new open diff in![]()
so i open it up and just swap the clutch pack??
Basically remove everything in the "back" of the differential and swap the largest internal part of one unit with the largest internal part of the other. I think there are about 12 bolts holding the ring gear to this part.
