I've wanted a turbo legacy sedan for a while now and I was looking on ebay and they have EJ20 motors from Japan on there all the time for what seems to be a reasonable price. I saw one for $500. Others are $1000 with a transmission. The one I was looking at looks very clean in great shape and comes with the 5 speed tranny,ECU/Wiring Harness, Airbox, MAF Sensor, Intercooler, Piping, Fuel Pump, Driveshaft, Axles, Air Canister, Vacuum Solenoid Box, Boost Solenoid, & Differential Presure Sensor. All that for $1,157 plus shipping. Not sure how much shipping would be though because you have to email them for a quote.
Is this a good deal or is it a bad idea? I'm pretty sure you have to have a right hand drive legacy for the twin turbo EJ20 engine. How hard are those to locate?

It's not a bad price....but you're not really sure what you're getting until you get it. It may have issues.....it shouldn't. I've heard of happy buyers, and some pissed off ones. So just try and do some research on the seller and see if they're legit.
Don't bother with the twin turbo's.

I hate when people can't find the shift key so that they can capitalize their words. It's almost as bad as people who type like they are sending a TM to their BFF.kamr0n wrote:i hate that they are called "twin" they arent. they are sequential.

Check out Ebay Motors. There's a place called Jhot. They constantly have Ej20H and Ej20R twin turbo legacy swaps with trannies. They are generally $800-2500 plus freight. The $800-1000 ones are high mileage or have auto trannies. But if you need a replacement longblock quckly and cheaply they can't be beat.

Oh, and you might want to contact Subaru. They've got tens of thousands of these things on the road that have "twin turbo" printed right there on their manifold cover plates.

Technically it means "duplicate" or a "matched identical" unit. Since one is bigger than the other they aren't really "twins". But when it's what the factory calls it, I don't really think "correcting" people about it goes over so well.
