Electrical isssues after legacy sat for 2 years

I left a 90 legacy 5spd wagon out in my yard without starting it for 2 years. Just recently I got sick of looking at it and decided to put a new hub assembly on it and tried to start it. Nothing. The fuel pump went out while it sat there for 2 years so I replaced that and now it starts right up.

Now I have a whole other mess of problems. When I turn the car off I hear this clicking noise from the seat belt relays (I think) in the back of the car on the left side by the struts. The gauge cluster tells me the two rear doors are open but they're not and the automatic seatbelts won't work anymore. None of these things were present when I parked it. I think the relay quit clicking like crazy when you turned the ignition off but the automatic seat belts still don't budge.

Where do I start with this? I don't have much experience with electrical.

gotta get a multi-meter and start checking for short circuits and continuity in those circuits...

sadly rats and mice like to chew on wires. sounds like some critters may have made the car home.

also better hope they didnt make it up into the vent ducts, they'll live in there and it'll clog up the blower and make the mix doors stick.

the doors being open may be the clock mem fuse blown. check the fuses under the hood and in the car first.

kimokalihi: I'm having the same problem.
My car was parked 6 month. Now (with a car starter, becouse the battery was dead) when I turn the key, it doent fire up. I thing it's the fuel pump. I cant get easily my car out from the 3 floors parking and I cant get a mechanic to move to where my car is parked (it's Spain here, I have to move the car to them). Even if I can move the car, I cant leave it to a mechanic for long becouse I live actually in London and I use the car when I go for hollidays, so I have few days. In other words.... I need to change the pump by myself ....and hope it'll fix the problem(the next time I go to Spain).

I never did this before.
kimokalihi: did you change the pump by your own? did you access to the fuel tank from the botton or is there access somewhere from the top?

I came back to Spain several times and the pump never failed before (I left the tank allways full of gas).

Also sometime when I turn the key, I hear the click of the relay, but nothing else happens. I suppose it's the starter. But this never ever happened before. (This is weird, cos I know that the starters burn, not that they rust)

I'd agree that mice can eat wires but if that is going to cause a problem, it will probably be that you get a short and a fuse will blow. I'd check the fuses first, pull them out and make sure they are clean on the pins where they go in and that they are not blown. Then I would check the relays, pull them out and check their terminals where they slip into their holders for dirty contacts. Give them a bump on the palm of yur hand or the table to free them up inside in case they have got a bit seized with the sit and moisture. if you have several relays the same you could swap them about to see if the symptom moves to another system, might be a good idea to find which is the suspect one first and then swap that with another. If you change several at once it would be a good idea to take a note of which went where.
