Got kinda T-boned by a woman who didn't look before she pulled a U-turn. Chassis is done. If I would not have swerved, it would have been an offset front hit, and I would have really flipped out. Shit happens, but god damn. I was out tuning my injectors I put in the night before. :smt013

Sorry about the accident, but it would have been much worse if it was a frontal collision...

Women's brains generally cannot process information fast enough to drive. They can, however, store lots more shit in them than men. Therefore, they should be record-keepers, not drivers. Maybe there should be a part of the driving test that takes into account the processor speed of the person's brain.

There is a hill to the right, so she must have looked in her mirror after cresting the hill and saw there was nobody behind her. Unfortunately I was a couple hundred yards behind, below the crest when she looked. She obviously didn't look again before pulling out.

Her adjuster will total the car. Its jsut a matter of what they want to give me for it. The car will not leave my driveway nor will they get their grubby hands on the title. I've got about $25k into the car and would completely loose my ass.

If they give me a decent amount to replace a 1993 Legacy L and cover the wheel and possibly bent coilover, I'd be happy.

That is really bad news for you. Good you are not injured. I know there are a lot of negative emotions you are feeling because of this. It will pass, the rest of your life goes on. Not that you wanted a new project, but now you have one! Take care.

The whole chassis is tweaked. It definately doesn't drive like it did right before the accident.

Also, there is damage to the B-pillar and possibly the rocker. Without getting the doors off there is no way to really tell. It would have to get on a frame rack to see how straight the car is. The front of the car(forward of the crossmember) was already tweaked a bit from a previous incident involving a deer, and another incident involving a field entrance. It's just not worth messing with this shell anymore.

Damn Dan!

That sucks big time. Glad to hear you're ok, and that it looks like all your performance goodies are in tact, and ready for swapping to another car.

Yeah, definitely a bummer. I was debating wether or not to get a new shell, and it looks like this incident made that decision for me, lol. Its too bad though. That color was only sprayed in '93 and I've never seen another on the road.

The only goodies that were damaged was that wheel obviously and possibly my coilover on that corner. I have another coilover with a rebuilt dampner ready to go, but her insurance company doesn't know that.

As far as a shell goes, an Impreza would be fun from a performance standpoint, but the day to day would suck. The Legacy is a nicer car for sure. Its 400lbs though.....

I see what you're saying Carlos, but I don't know if I can put up with driving an Impreza.

The Camry hit me. The Forester is my mom's. I called her to bring a camera to take pics of the scene.

I'm with you Dan. Driving my impreza is tolerable, but the Legacy is a much more refined car, all the way around.

Truf. The Legacy has always been the flagship. Yes the Impreza is lighter and has nicer turn-in from being shorter, but it is smaller and not put together like the Legacy. Besides, I can't fit my intercooler behind the headlights on an impreza

Apparently there is a '97 or '98 Legacy with a bum motor on CL for $500. I need this to get sorted out quick. Hmmmm? I just wish the door card wasn't so lame with the joke of an armrest and the almost vertical window switches. Maybe I could make the old ones work?

We'll see what happens and what I decide to go with. Ultimately it'll come down to what comes up for the right price. It's getting really hard fine clean examples of the 1sy gens.

Are the cops there because you beat the Camry driver to a bloody pulp? I would have. A buddy of mine got hit the same exact way you did. What the fuck are people thinking? How can you NOT see a car as its passing your front fender??

Whenever I see a car pull to the side of the road, I always wonder if he's about to pull an illegal U turn, and try to give him as much space as possible.

Really sucks man :( Sorry to hear and see it.
