auxilliary fan motor

Post by open_door8 »

I am a newcomer on this forum so please be patient.

I have Subary Legacy L 1994 Station Wagon 2.2L
Both fan motors stopped rotating so I have a view questions:
1. How to diagnose the problem
2. If it is a bad motors what is the correct name of motor and where to shop?

Thank you for help

What I'd recommend is putting the car into diagnostic mode by connecting the green T shaped connectors under the dash. This will cycle the radiator fans on and off, and will tell you whether your problem is with the motors.

If the fans work, then more then likely the input to the ECU that tells it to turn on the fans is possibly bad. Coolant temp sensor.

Do you have AC, does the fans come on when you turn on the AC?

here's a pic of the diagnostic connectors
