Impreza Version Info (crank/cam trigger related)

Post by Legacy777 »

Can someone fill me in what the different version numbers were according to their model year?

I ask because there's a base map for the LinkPlus for the Version 5-6 WRX/STi. As long as the crank & cam triggers are the same I believe I can use that as a starting point. If not, I have to use a starting point for LEM version 1-2 or something.

Any help is appreciated.

Are we talking about angle sensors (crank/cam angle sensors?)

If so, then I can tell you that ALL Imprezas have had the same crank angle sensor from day one. Same part number. The new 08 STi has the same crank sensor as a 93 Impreza 1.8.

And I just checked cam sensors... and it appears, as far as the Impreza is concerned, all SOHC cam sensors are the same. From a 93 Impreza 1.8 to an 08 Impreza 2.5i.

Thanks Michael.

The sensors may be the same, and I'm pretty sure the crank gear is probably the same, however I wasn't sure about the cam gear. This thought was mainly brought up due to conversations doug has talked about with using some of the newer heads and having to adjust where the cam pickups were.

From looking at the options in the Link, they have subaru triggers lumped together V1 to V6 I believe. So I think that would include the Legacy stuff. I just don't know the whole year vs. version crap.

I <believe> that the cam pulse count changed on the V7 (bugeye, "new-age").

It may have been before that, but I know that the USDM WRX has the updated system.

I also know that the DOHC ej25 used the old system. SO.... up to '99 is old, 2002+ is new. Middle? not sure.

Yeah, getting into DOHC stuff changes things unfortunately.

I think I'm alright since they have v1-6 as one option, and v7-10 as another.

Thanks for the help.
