3" installed - few Qs.

Post by BSOD2600 »

alright, finally got myself a 3" turboback exhaust installed -- damn its freaking loud compared to stock! Helix DP and a custom 3" exhaust purchased from a fellow BBS member.

Few pics from the install...

Delete the restrictive stock DP. Why on earth does the DP have it flat to the left of the exhaust instead of a bellmouth?

Is this bracket, on the stock DP (which someone decided to weld on) really needed? That bracket attaches to the end of the tranny and obviously the exhaust.

my guess is that it is there for support for your downpipe bolts, without it, there would be alot more vibration becuase your downpipe should shake with the motor.

The bracing to the tranny eliminates the possibility of stress on the flange from the DP to the turbo. Nice looking system though. Was the O2 bung there from Helix or welded in afterwards?

I believe it was already there. I didn't buy the part direct from a parts place.

That bracing WAS on the OEM exhaust though...

I thought it would be since my Invidia pipe has it in roughly the same spot.

i think the hanger may have been bent or something for an aftermarket exhaust, and then he put the stock on, and he didn't want to bend it lol

Yes, I've had the 5MT 4.11 swapped in a while ago.
