Axle compatibility

Post by rmarques »

Hey all I'm new here - just bought a 92 SS.
I'm wanting to know if the axles from a 00 Impreza RS are compatible with the Legacy trans and knuckles.
And FYI yes I am too lazy (busy) to spend my time searching!
Thanks.

front or rear? auto or manual?

they should work on the front, but in the rear your ss should have stub shafts coming out of the diff i do belive? look at the rear diff axles and see if there are roll pins holding the axle on the stub shaft.

if not shure you could go by your nearest subaru dealer and ask the parts department the same Q.

Yeah good point, the WRX(3.9) axles don't have roll pins and the RS(4.11) ones do.
And 5spd RF corner. I have yet to put it in the air but I will post back with my findings for future reference.
Thanks.

Took a quick look and the car has pins front and back. I haven't replaced any axles though.. diag'd the noise to something else.
