PS caliper squeaking intermitantly

Post by Bdub »

My FR caliper appears to be squeaking, but not loudly, and not at a continuous sound. Its hard to describe, but I've looked over everything, and inspected all braking components.
I'm almost ruling out a wheel bearing, I've checked for play, and there isn't any at all.

The sound tends to become more pronounced when I touch the brakes. The caliper isn't frozen, after running the car for a while, they aren't getting insanely hot.

I'm just at a loss as to what the heck is going on. The noise seems like its getting worse, but I've looked at everything. Anyone have a similar occurance?

So it does appear that my caliper is not operating how it should be.
However, after further inspections, there is some serious play at my lower balljoint. The boot isn't broken, but the drivers' side doesn't have this type of play.

The ball joints are only $30 a pop might as well replace both. Also if you shake the caliper does it go back an forth? Just to verify if the sliders are free.

I replaced the balljoint while I was swapping over my springs. Got a decent Moog joint for $40.
There was a lot of play, and looked like the original one from 91 still on the car.
After soaking the pinchbolt in PB blaster for 2 days, and then torching the bolt before even trying to get it out, I hit it with the impact wrench, and it broke right free. Phew, that was my biggest worry. Banging the old joint out wasn't easy, but it eventually broke loose.

So, now there isn't any play, and the squeaking has subsided. BUT, I'm a moron, wasn't paying attention, and ripped the boot on the control arm when I rested the spindle down for a moment.
Do they sell just the boot and grease fittings? because I don't want to spend another 40 bones for another damn balljoint already.
