Can axle stubs of a 5MT be removed with a pop like the Autos

Post by ciper »

I swear I remember popping axle stubs out of both transmissions but my memory is so messed up.

I know for sure that the 6 speeds and the 4eat uses a spring circlip and the axle stubs can be popped in an out just like the newer rear differentials.

Check this thread for why Im asking http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=1590082

The 5mt that was in my '93 L did not have the circlip style stubs. They were held in place by snap-rings, which require removal of the front diff to get at. It would all be in vain though, as they cannot be used in a circlip style diff as the slot for the snap ring is a fraction the size of the groove needed for the circlips. Don't ask me how I found this out
