after doing the 5mt swap on my legacy it doesnt like the higher revs from me beating on it
its smokin pretty bad of oil, that and the bottom end rod noise its always had is getting lowder.
so i thinks it time for a fresh short block.
im think of doing a 2.5 phase2 swap with my 2.2 heads ect.
will this work with out any problems and if so what?

If you put a 2.5 shortblock on 2.2 heads your compression will end up over 11.0:1, and you will need to run premium if you don't want it to knock. Also, you will need headgaskets to match the bore of that shortblock. The factory tuning of the 2.2 ECU that you most likely will use will not match what is needed of the extra volume you will be pumping.

Dan is right, you will have to run premium gas and the ECU won't be ideal.
That said, there are a lot of people who are running the 2.5/2.2 hybrid with much sucess. I looked into it pretty seriously for my OBW but ran out of money.
I don't mean to be breaking out the search stick, but, there is a lot of information on the BBS about this. Nabisco has a fair bit as well. Search for 2.5 Hybrid or 2.5 Frankenstien .

eh, not a big deal, i new there was somthing that wouldent work.
ill just go junkyard hunting for a lowmileage 2.2 motor, give a good look over with new rings, and bearings if need be.

Its different when you go the other way around. He was talking a 2.5 block with 2.2 heads..

I am rewiring my 91 sedan to a DOHC RS because of a similar issue. The compression of a 2.5 block with 2.2 heads is way too high.
