R180 rear differential in a Legacy is my goal. I've got the parts and time but would like feedback before digging into the car. Multiple solutions exist for the driveshaft and halfshafts (even with OEM parts) so the only worry is the subframe and "dogbone" mount.
Comments? BTW the Spec B axles are r180 inners with r160 outers

the diff will bolt up into your old subframe. i have one in my 90, just switch the studs that go through the xmember from your old diff to the r180.
and i just actually looked underneath a spec B a few weeks ago and noticed the same thing
if only i had noticed that before

Are you using the DSS axles or?
Thanks for the help. I now know what needs to be done...

I was told by a VERY experienced subaru mechanic/hotrodder that you can make hybrid axles at the outer CV joint. This is what I plan on doing.
Also, I thought the R180 had the same length studs off the cover? They look that in pictures. If not, its still an easy swap-over.
I've had a 6mt in my car since '06, and have been planning on an R180 swap. I've just had other things pop up in the mean time.

For some reason I missed that part of your post. I find that very interesting
Also, what a friend did on his swapped GM6 was to re-drill SVX backing plates, and re-drill SVX rotors so he could still use small brakes for winter while keeping the STi hubs.
