Thanks for all your help people!!
I wouldn't say it's "useless". It is what it is as the expression goes. It's nearly free (other than your time) and you will simply need to tune for it. No biggie.

Right, but the point I believe he was getting to was that the STi Yellow injectors are already 550cc w/o being modded & then you can go larger if you wish.

But yes, the JDM grey 440cc injectors are the largest you can use w/o much problems on the stock computer.

(I own both grey & yellow)

Oh sh*t man that those pics are nice. Exactly what I was looking for :) Those are completely different than the top feed caps.

How did you go from the ready to mod pic with the four holes on the right, to the modded pic with the different tip on the left?

A belt sander. Gently ground down the tip of the injector at about a 45 degree angle, while rotating it evenly, until the 'cover' popped off. You can see the cover piece on the counter top in the pics. You can also see the sanding lines on the injector tip if you look close.

So how many with modded red injectors have flow tested them? I find it hard to believe that they only flow around 550cc. All of the other hacked stock injectors so far have flowed around 700-900cc + depending on what fluid they were tested with.

Ok,

I got you. How is the spray pattern of the modded injectors? I guess having them flow tested would show that.

Just did them. Mostly because I was curious, might need them eventually, and because somebody asked for pics (and I'm currently on a picture binge :P ).

I'll eventually flowtest them, but that costs real money. If I get enough donations I'll do it....for the community. :-D 8)

What's your cost? I believe RCE charges $35 per injector. I'd likely toss in since I have 2 sets (one set on the wife's LGT) and it might be worth my while to have full test proof on this mod.

It costs about $100 to get all four done.

I don't know if they'd do just one injector to see what the flow rate & injector pattern is worth. But I think we could get that money very easily. I don't mind paying for the one to be tested by myself.

I'd chip in $15 ($20 max) on the deal to help towards the goal. 8)

If you guys are serious, I'll donate my injectors and 1/2 the cost (they are my injectors, afterall).

Of course, all results would be public.

ATTENTION!!!!!!!

You MUST get a platic cap (look at any other injector) BACK ON THE INJECTOR!!!!!!

The aluminum thingy HOLDS THE O-RING IN PLACE!!!!!!!

Without the platic tip, the o-ring will pop off/leak fuel.

Been there, done that!

YOU MUST REINSTALL THE PLASTIC TIPS!!!!!!

Injectors

Post by TwinTurbine »

Actually you can mod the pink Turbo Injectors it's done all the time. But don't let anyone know at the track, wink, wink, they really do want to see under your hood after you burn the tires off in first gear. Idle is solid and steady.

I don't see how the stock injectors can be modded like some of the others. The stock 'pinks' have the pintle already exposed.

I'll get the reds flow tested and post the results. I'll also post my paypal at that time for those that would use it.

Tommio RS,

I wouldn't get too excited. You can try anything you want but running injectors that flow twice as much as what's expected by the ECU is not going to happen.

PhyrraM,

That's awesome man! I would donate BUT I will mod and have a set cleaned and flowed regardless. Please be sure to post your results. I'm thinking 600cc

Well hopes go up and hopes go down. What can i say. Well then, ill just need to find some ej35d injectors and mod them. Or get STi injectors and mod them, with a fuel management system.

We have an injector flow tester here at school, I just need to get one of my buddies in the automotive engineering program to flow test a set for me. I have a set of EJ25D injectors sitting at home collecting dust, so I could do this to them if I wanted to. I need to figure out a way to keep an o-ring on the bottom of it though.

Ideas?

Also, how did you get the aluminum shroud off without going midevil on it? I haven't tried yet, but a little heads up would be nice?
