I just don't know what to do.

Mmk. Well I'm the one who posted about the just getting a 91 Legacy. I've put seafoam through it and well it made the knocking worse. I've got a video. Boring first 45 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKUyrORWNwA

Laugh, snicker, whatever. Call me an idiot  . Well I was thinking of just parting this thing out. I found another car and yes it's another Subi. So here is the thing. I'm going to pull the block apart and mic out the entire thing to see whats knocking. (I'm pretty sure I can move a rod and it's the bearings.

But anyways, I'm thinking of going this route because I know I have to get motor mounts because of the oil leaked and I can lift the right side up about four inches, new knock sensor "it's cracked", new crank pulley "rubber is not sticking so it free spins", timing cover "previous owner stripped bolts so I had to brake it off", left front axle, and of course the motor rebuilt.

That is just some stuff and not everything it needs. I already know that it is prolly going to cost over $2000 to have everything done and out of a car till next year. So, I'll prolly end up parting this thing out if it's more than bearings that need to be replaced.

Thanks for reading

Didn't sound THAT bad, would have been better if you went under the hood and reved it to hear the sound better. Have you done a oil change yet? Also the idle doesn't seem to stay up well maybe you should have sprayed some throttle body cleaner down the IACV tube. Even if you just pull off the intake you will find alot of crud build up in there that you can spray down with some throttle body cleaner.

Uh, that does NOT sound good. Sounds like any other Subarus I've heard with a roasted rod bearing. Why were you revving the piss out of it? That was painful to watch.

The crank may or may not be chewed up. The only way to tell is to tear it apart. Good thing it is the same crank as the 22E, which are a dime a dozen.

It wasn't as bad as a friend of mine's car:

Which was this when I tore it down:

Yea, I changed the oil and then added some more while it leaked out until the leak was fixed. I was just revving it to see if it stutters or not. Usually it will stutter if a rod, cylinder, or piston is broke. It still has all of it's power amazingly. But that was the last time I started it. It is now in pieces and I have to wait till my friend wakes up to get his cherry picker or I might just piece it out of the car. :-D

Um, your friend didn't sell his car did he? Seen one that almost looked like that for sell near Atlanta. But yea, sounds about the same.

Where are you located? Very soon I will have a complete running EJ22 that I won't need. Its in perfect working condition except that it uses about 1 quart of oil every 350 miles. No smoke, no smell and I passed smog just last week with .01PPM CO at idle and 0.00 at 2500 rpm! It has sorta new seals/pumps/belts all around with the exception of the rear main.

I'm 99.9% sure a problem in cylinder three is drinking all the oil so you could probably just put on of your old pistons into it and drive away.

I was saying I have a complete engine you could install in your car with little internal work.

But you are really far away so :(

oh ok :-D . Yea I think I'm going to go ahead and keep this thing and not bother getting another car. I'll just get a loan so I can get the work done on the motor and other misc. crap for it. I should have the block cracked open by sunday so I can figure out what I need done to it. Other than that I'll start to pull apart the interior to in stall some of my stereo system and lay the wire to put the battery in the trunk. Well, I guess that's it for now. Time to use the search to find out what will fit and work for this car. Going to keep the heads just need to find headers that will work with them or make my own :-D .
