Aftermarket Radiator Fan Options

Post by GrayT »

I destroyed my original radiator fan in a wreck. I called up the local Subaru shop and requested a price for the shroud and fan which they wanted a grand total of $400 for.

So I got to thinking about aftermarket radiator fan options, and was wondering how many CFM's this type of fan would need to push in order to properly cool a Turbo 5 Speed.

When and if there is something I can use, which wires should I splice the fan into?
The wires off the original radiator plug harness or run a switch to the interior for manual operation?

If possible I would much rather do the radiator plug harness option.

Also if anyone has an extra radiator fan that wants to sell it, please PM me. I need it ASAP!

I'm in the springs. How much for one of them? I got a PM from someone before your reply that is selling one for $25 + shipping. I'd rather get the fan ASAP but it also depends on price.

The FSM doesn't give a CFM rating, and I haven't seen many radiator fans rated that way. They usually list the motor wattage

That's insane! I bet you it would be 20-30 bucks at the local yard here.
