You will likely get questioned why you have a 1996 Turbo Legacy as there was not a 96' Turbo Legacy sold in the States.

Smells like a scam - 1 post user, info we know is incorrect, demanding a specific shipping medium that isn't ideal for 50 lb diff.... something's not right here.

I just pulled one from my parts car tonight and 40-50 lbs is just about correct. To my knowledge, the SS only had them available on the '91. The Impreza 2.5RS did have them as well in the later years. Not sure if they were 3.90 or not though.

Some of the later Legacy gt's had LSD, but they were obviously non turbo. ( like the 2.5 RS)

I would get a VIN with the part to check.
Yes I have too many Subarus

It had to be after the BD series. '96-'99 were not LSD. The BE series could have shared 2.5RS parts though.

I wanted to put that info out there, but I wasn't sure if it was correct. Thanks Carlos confirming what I was thinking.
