I recently bought a '93 Legacy Turbo Sedan after my '97 Impreza got
totaled. I did have a few upgrades to the Impreza, including a
custom intake that I had hoped to switch over to the Legacy, thinking
that it would not be a problem since they basically have the same
2.2L engine. But I am running into a couple problems finding room to
work with, since the Legacy has the turbo on it, as well as ABS. I
think I would be able to make it happen if I could remove the black
plastic resonator box, but I'm not certian of what implications would
come of this. I'm a bit of a newbie at engine mods, so my ignorance
my shine here, but would I be able to just find a way to "tie in" the
three hoses that connect to the resonator box into my own custom
intake? Or are there airflow properties of the resonator box that
I'd be eliminating that serve some critical purpose to the
performance of the engine?
Any help from anyone who has a custom intake on an EJ22t is
appreciated. Even if I can't use my old intake, I'd like to hear
what you've done.
Thanks,
Mike

I have yet to totally change my intake in fear that I might make the
engine's performance worse as I will be intaking more hot air than the
stock setup. I still have the black filter box on with a K&N drop in
air filter and the 'snorkus' in the front wheel well is gone.

Intake questions.
There is a picture of what I have done in the files section under
Impeng.jpg oil separator it seems to work well and I am going to make
something more "permanent" soon.
