I have been lurking for a while learned a lot from you guys, thanks.

A couple of days ago I was siting in the burger king parking lot with the engine running. I then turned it off and about five or ten minutes started it back up again to leave. When I did I heared a noise sounding like an electric motor running. I drove for a little while and the noise persisted. The ABS light in the dash was on. I pulled over, shut off the car and the noise persisted. I popped the hood and the motor running sound was coming from under the ABS unit in the front left corner of the engine bay. I found the fuse for the ABS relay under the dash and pulled it out. This caused the noise to stop. I then put the fuse back in and everything seems to be fine now. Any ideas out there on how this could happen? Is this something I should be worried about?

Thanks, Hunter

The ABS unit has a self diagnosis system. Under the RH front seat/
carpet. There is the electronic control unit. When you pulled the fuse
you reset the system. Actually, just by turning off the ignition
the system is reset. If you look at the unit there is a led light
which blinks with an error code if there is a problem. This comes on
in conjunction with the dash mounted ABS warning light. If there is a
problem, the dash mounted light comes on and then an error code will
be displayed by the led lights blinking in the electronic unit under
the seat. If this happens you must not turn the ignition off
otherwise the stored error codes will be reset. If the problem you
describe was still there the warning light would be still on.
The blink error codes range from 1 -10 and a code of 16.
