engine prices

i was at the yard yesterday to see what subie goodies i could find and there was a 92 wagon with 170k, good engine and they wanted 200 for it (asked out of curiosity). this a fair price for a motor?

Yeah I'd say so even though that's kinda high milage. Not bad if there's nothing wrong with it. I think the junk yard near here wants $300 or $350 for subaru motors that are already pulled and nothing wrong with them.

For $350 I bought a JDM twin turbo EJ20 off craigslist. I'd look there.

I just saw one on ebay (it's still on there, i think) brand new still in the crate from Fuji Heavy Industries for $500. It's just the core, it doesn't include cylinder heads or any external engine parts. But if you had the cash, you could buy new or remanned heads and accessories and have a whole brand new engine for around a grand.
