Suggestions for a quiet performance exhaust

Post by Soarer »

So, I built a custom 3" system last year that sounded great but was too loud for my tastes. I'm lookin to build another one but this time, quiet it down to a level just above what a spt muffler on an sti sounds like. I've got a 3" down pipe and need to piece together the rest. Suggestions please!

I had a custom 3" exhaust with no cats, resonators, etc for a few months. Got tired of the noise and had a muffler shop weld in a 3" resonator. damn what a difference. Much more quiet now.

Thought about just doing that?

What kind of resonator did you use?

Ummm, will have to look at the receipt when I get home from work. Basically just told Midas to order something up that would fit my custom exhaust and not vibrate/touch the body.

Well looked on the receipt and all it has for the resonator is part # 621515 at $51.48. Googling doesn't really find much about it...

Yeah....if you want something a little quieter, put in a resonator. I've got a cat & resonator in my 3" system and like the sound. It's not too loud, but does have some bark when you rev the engine.
