Pic request: N/A bumpers

Post by TrueBlue »

I did some searching, but can't seem to find any good pics. I know some of you gents have fantastic pics hosted offsite in directories, so I'll just come out and ask:

I'm looking for some shots of N/A cars' bumpers, specifically things like the cover removed, behind the bumper, the foam inserts, how the bumper core itself looks, etc. That kinda stuff. :P

I'm looking to C-notch the bumper to recess a set of Hella 500s, and I want to know what's involved.

Looks perfect... I had you in mind when I was discussing the directories. Thanks again. :)

So - looks like four bolts hold on the bumper assembly to the chassis, then some smaller bolts to hold on the cover?

You also looked like you removed all the foam from the bumper backing, so no issue reassembling the bumper without it?

My game plan is to yank the bumper, remove the cover and foam, cut out a semi-circle at either end of the bumper, mount the Hellas the back of the bumper, and trim the cover to fit over the whole kit 'n kaboodle.

There are four bolts that hold the bumper beam onto the chassis. There's some smaller bolts/clamps that hold the bumper skin to the bumper beam/chassis.

I put the foam back in. I'd recommend putting the foam back in if you can as it will give the bumper skin more support. I don't recall if I put the foam piece in the bumper skin and then put it back together, or put the foam on the bumper beam and put the bumper skin on. I remember it wasn't overly fun, especially with one person.

On the post face-lift, the foam fits pretty well inside the bumper, though I didn't try to reinstal it. The clips that hold the sides of the bumper skin are a PITA.
