Ok I have this EJ20 running
Does anyone have the slightest idea how all the turbo and solenoid
hoses are routed on the EJ22t? I have this engine running with a EJ22t
ECU and there is no hose info in the FSM.

Al, are you just put the EJ20G engine into the US Legacy turbo??
Are they use the same wire harness???
Any problem with the US Spec ECU???
Any problem when you install them???
Since I already have an EJ20G engine from Japan but all I am looking
is an Japan Spec ECU!!
If the US spec ecu could do the job then I could save the money for
other parts on the car!!

Ok I have this EJ20 running
Mine's far beyond stock, so i can't be of much help on that end. If
you want to look over my site, perhaps in the boost gauge or MBC
section, you could possibly find some original pics of the hose
routing.

Ok I have this EJ20 running
I have been thinking about this as well... I think that you can run the EJ22
complete setup on the EJ20. BUT you have to use the whole setup, Airflow
meter and all. Why dont you try it?
Let us know.

Ok I have this EJ20 running
That is what I am doing we did one other conversion like this into a
'97 Legacy and it worked and I have this one running but not very well
yet. One problem is the coils on the EJ20 but the "wasted spark"
system from the EJ22t should work. I got the diagram of the lines for
the turbo it is on the computer at the dealers. If anyone needs it I
can send it to them. I am using the wiring harness that came with the
car it is a '93 Imprezza EJ18 and few additional wires have to be run.
This will work my car is a'95 Impreza coupe and that is the way I did
it using a '94 turbo motor and ECU. Have checked local sources for a
Japan spec Ecu for you guys and have come up with the same answer that
they can't be imported. I don't know if this is true or not but have
heard it before and once from the person from Europe that imports
them.

Ok I have this EJ20 running
What kind of trouble are you having with the car.... i.e. "i have
this one running but not very well"?
I also have my conversion running, but not perfectly, on the 95
Impreza EJ18 ECU. On mine the idle is all over the place. It may be
because I decided to use the EJ18's throttle body instead of the
EJ20's since the EJ18's engine wiring harness connectors do not fit
on the EJ20 throttle position sensor and idle air control plug.
Sometimes the engine bounces while idling about every 3 seconds or
so, sometimes it will idle very high like 2500 rpms, sometimes it
will idle at 2000 then drop to 1000 then jump back up to 2000 and
repeat. It seems to drive all right...as long as the RPMs are above
2000. When i accelerate from a stop the car has trouble under 2000
RPMs. Are you having similar problems?

Ok I have this EJ20 running
Mark, what you mean the whole setup??
What my mechanic will do is he will just swap the whole engine in the
car but using the old wire harness that alreay using in the EJ22t
engine.
We think that would work but maybe need the ecu for the J-Spec ecu!
BTW, we did thinking to use the Stock EJ22T ecu with the EJ22T
injector since the ECU controls the fuel flow and the injuction , do
you think it will gonna work??

Ok I have this EJ20 running
I had a defective MAF sensor and a vac. leak but now it is running
pretty good. I think you will have to get a throttle position sensor
from a '90 to '94 Legacy with the proper plug as it is a different
value in resistance and also has an idle switch. A n/a or turbo sensor
will work. On this engine I had to switch the position of the black
and white wires on the IAC valve also but these may have been
switched previously as this car was worked on unsucessfuly for some
time. This car had had a 1.8 ECU when I received it but I have
installed a EJ22t ECU as the EJ18 does not have a knock sensor and is
really not suited for running a turbo motor as the turbo motors run
different fuel and timing maps.

pretty good.

Ok I have this EJ20 running
This will work in the '97 Legacy that now has a EJ20 motor we used the
EJ25 wiring harness manifold and all and just bolted it on. This car
has been running well for two years. You will have some work switching
the wires to the proper positions in the plugs but the terminals are
removable and can be moved to match the EJ22 ECU.

Ok I have this EJ20 running
Like everyone has said, the EJ20 MAF does not work with the EJ22 computer.
and apparently they have different injectors PLUS the engine wiring is
different. It took me about 1 hour to track each wire on the main plug near
the battery to make sure I lined them all up correctly due to the fact the
the EJ20 has a different plug then the ej22. I didnt want to pull out the
stock ej22 wiring out of the fender of the car. Also I believe that diferent
generations of EJ20's have different plugs.
The computers should have the same wiring for the plugs even my EJ22 was the
same as the EJ20. this is why you can order a possum link system and plug it
into any of the EJ20's. Just not the EJ22 due to the sparkplug issue,
although... this can be fixed as well.
I am tempted to bid on the ECU myself, I think you (Ben) should buy it for
your car So far, its the right price. I have seen STI ECU's go for about
$200 USD on a Japanese website.

Mark could you send me the link of the Japan site for the ECU though
my e-mail addrss?
ej22t@yahoo.com
I would like to get it ASAP since the engine already arrive so I want
to install it to see hows the engine going!
