91 vs 94 SS 4eat parts different?

Post by BXSS »

I have a 94SS, was planning on modding the valvebody + torque converter in/on the tranny & have a 91SS torque convertor + v-body out and available to be modded.

Are these the same as what is on my car?
Part#'s are different for the different model years.

Turbo Auto trans V-bodys:

1991- PN 31000AB940 Trans code: AY/TZ102ZJ1AA
1992- PN 31000AC150 Trans code: AY/TZ102ZJ2AA
93&94- PN 31000AC290 Trans code: AY/TZ102ZJ3AA

Looks like 93 & 94 are the same but who knows the differences between other years.

For the Torque Converters, the parts catalog says that each year uses a different one, but there's a crossover for each year (possibly for the first half and second half of the year):

31100AA420 - 91&92
31100AA520 - 92&93
31100AA521 - 93&94
94 Legacy SS
96 Impreza OBS
99 Impreza OBS-T
04 Sienna XLE Limited AWD

i'd love to help you out but honestly i have no clue about the differences. i dont see what the big deal would be.
best bet would be to get one from a 94 or take yours out and compare them.
but i am really interested in what you're planning to do to your valve body. i've been thinking of modding it but i'm not sure what the best approach is with these tranny's.

thanks
