The WRX trans needs a 3.54:1 rear diff.
There is also a missing stud for the second bolt holding the starter on that need to be replicated somehow.
The clutch and flywheel need to be replaced with WRX (or Legacy SS) parts.
A WRX shifter assembly, or a WRX transmission-to-shifter bracket is needed.
Hydraulic conversion has been mentioned.
Those are the issues I can remember off-hand.

ok so does the wrx 3.54:1 rear diff bolt into a 94 legacy wagon? or is there some more custom work that would need to be done there to??

It should bolt into the legacy.
One other issue I can think of if you do that though is the rear axles. You would need to pull the stubs out the legacy rear diff and put them into the WRX rear diff. I am pretty sure the WRX rear diff accepts male stubbed axles.

Given all the issues, and the fact that the WRX trannies are not exactly a huge strength improvement, fitting another N/A tranny would be by far the least trouble and expense.
Unless you were doing a 6MT, it's not worth the hassle.
If what you want is a hydraulic clutch system, find a wrecked RS and pull all the bits....

Or just use WRX rear axles and not have to swap any stubs over. The WRX diff does bolt in. I've done it. you will have to either swap driveshafts or pinion flanges. The bolt patter between the wrx diff and legacy diff is different. Still, not a big deal.Legacy777 wrote: One other issue I can think of if you do that though is the rear axles. All true statements. One more reason you might want the WRX over the RS though, is the pull style clutch vs. the push on the non turbo transmissions...ScottyS wrote:Given all the issues, and the fact that the WRX trannies are not exactly a huge strength improvement, fitting another N/A tranny would be by far the least trouble and expense.
