OK guys here it is!
Just over a mth ago I wrote an email and was pretty upset because my clutch
was slipping! I had previously changed the clutch on my '92 Legacy Turbo
(cdn) at about 74,000km in 1998 and it started slipping again at 112,000.
Although I believe the first time it slipped was back in Dec. but I thought it
must have just been my imagination because it didn't do it again. But anyways
I brought it to the mechanic in Feb. and they bleeded out the system but it
was still slipping on my way home from picking it up. Meanwhile the mechanic
said it drove fine when he tested it. I even had a friend of mine drive it
and there was no problem either. I drove it without any problems until the
weekend b4 last when it started slipping again!!! Coincidentally I decided to
test the car b4 I turned up the boost from 12psi to 13psi. But after the
slippage I decided not to touch anything. But of course after that day about
10 days ago it hasn't missed a beat. I've driven it slow, super fast, with
and without a full load and it drove perfectly.
So my question to everyone is WHAT THE HELL IS GG ON WITH MY CLUTCH THAT SEEMS
TO BE SLIPPING PERIODICALLY????? Has this ever happened to anyone b4? I'm
totally lost here!
thanx guys,
FREDDEX

If you ate a clutch up in 5000 miles you either seriously need to learn how to
drive a manual tranny or you replaced it with a worn clutch......There's no
way they should only last that long unless you're racing around and roastin
the clutch.

Can't believe it's that time again! I only had it changed 5000 miles ago!!!!
anyhoo can anyone offer me a little advice on how easy a job this might be and
if I can do it myself? I am quite capaable and have been known to change
clutches myself before but have always left my subu alone in fear of damaging
something as Jap cars are sooo expensive on parts!!! anyway a quick how and
any potential pit falls would be really kewl..

PERIODIC CLUTCH PROBLEM
I bought a 91 legacy NA about 5 years ago with 65000 miles on it. When I test drove it I noticed the clutch slipped when I first drove it off the lot. I got them to agree to replace the clutch if it happened again within 30 days.
Long story short I another 100,000 miles on it and 3 maybe 4 times I noticed slippage. I believe the rear main seal on the engine leaked a small amount and occasionally enough to make it slip.
I would still have the car if the body had held up. Previous owner had wrinkled a fender and the rust took it all in the end....
