Does anyone have any information on the turbo legacy's 2nd oxygen
sensor(the one in the downpipe after the cat)? It seems like a 1 wire
sensor so my guess is that it is a small band (0-1 volt as opposed to
wide-band) and it is non-heated. Am I correct? Thanks, Noah

These cars have two o2 sensors?
Anyone know why, or what the difference between the two is?

I've seen one which looked like a standard 3-wire (heated, NB i presume),
sitting in the dumppipe behind the turbo.

I'm still exploring the engine bay of mine.. Can anyone tell me where the
MAP sensor is? It's a labyrinth in there..

Noah: If it only has one wire, then it won't be heated, and I'm pretty sure
it'll be a stoich NB o2 sensor. wbO2 is very rare in a pre-setup factory
car.

North America only has 1 oxygen on the Turbo's. At least my car did. It came
after the turbo. I know that the EJ20T has the oxygen sensor before the
turbo... Did the EJ20T have 2?

The EJ22t only had one 02 sensor it is in the case with the cat right
behind the turbo. The EJ20t that I am working on has an 02 sensor in
the manifold and it is disconnected on this one.

The MAF sensor is made out of aluminum on the US spec cars with the
exception of a few very early production models they were black
plastic. It should be right on the intake boot from the turbo.

Thanks, although i'm familiar with the MAF's placement.
Actually I was wondering about the MAP sensor.. Apparently there's one in
here somewhere.. MAP is the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

Used by the computer to tell how much boost you're running. If you've got
the specs you can use the electrical output to run a digital boost gauge, or
run it thru a simple circuit to an electrical wastegate controller to have
accurately adjustable boost control...

I have a 2bar map sensor i was using on my commodore, but it'd be simpler
for me to use the existing one, plus this will save me from having to run
extra cable thru the firewall.. Instead I should be able to find the related
pin on the computer input's and just attach that to an electrical boost
gauge. Neat n tidy ;)

Doesn't anyone else do this?

(who really needs to get a good technical manual for this car)

I believe it is around the throttle body and such....I'm not positive....i'd suggest gettin or lookin through a service manual.

The MAP sensor is mounted on a bracket with the solenoid on the right
side of the engine compartment just foward of the strut tower on the
US spec turbo Legacy. And we do some tricks also, I have a 3 bar
sensor that is giving me about 15lbs boost and I built a digital boost
gauge that really works pretty well also. It beats spending $300-$400
for a boost controller and works without being adjustable but that is
scheduled for a change also.

Where do we find out more about this?

Oxygen sensor

Hi
Does anyone know what type of oxygen sensor is fitted to a '94 Legacy
2L (not turdo). My after market supplier can spply any type but we
don't know what type it is. We think it may be a Titania (titanium
dioxide) type but need more info. Has anyone fitted a non origional
type? If so who was the maker or where did you get it from. Has
anyone got an origional manual with the O2 sensor spec in it? I am in
Worcester England but can contact anywhere.
Thanks in advance

wat type? shouldn't mater...if your car has a 4 wire 9heated), any 4 wire
will do well enough.

You can also use a 2 wire to replace a 4 wire..2 wire jsut isn't heated, so
doesn't react as quickly until warmed up...works fine though.

With O2 sensors, i also tend to buy from the dealership...never had much luck
(at least on highly modded cars) with the aftermarket ones by Bosch, etc.

On the contrary - it matters very much. Generally speaking, there are two types - zirconia and titanium (not to mention the more exotic ones on more recent vehicles). You need a zirconia type which changes it's voltage when subjected to different mixtures where the titanium changes its resistance. You can use pretty much any number of wires like Z1 says - just get the signal wire right. You will see a gold contact on the connector of the Subaru item. This is the signal connection so verify what wire it is since they do tend to use O2 sensors with wierd color conventions.
