Drill and tapping...

Post by guesswho »

Hey guys, I have a Prodrive downpipe I am going to drill and tap for an 02bung. Does anyone know what size drill bit and tap I need to do this?

Is there a specific depth I have the set the bung at? Thanks in advance!

Generally speaking you usually buy a bung and have it welded on. The wall of the exhaust tubing is most likely too thin to reliabley tap, and the O2 sensor needs a flat surface to seal against, much like a spark plug.

The downpipe has a bung already welded into it, but the diameter is too small. I just the need to know the size drill bit and tap I need.

M18 x 1.5 mm.. What kind of 02 are you trying to use. Most are all the same size, unless the DP is smaller than it should be.
