anyone out there know about whats involved in putting 99 2.5 rs sohc heads
on a 2.2T block. do all the coolant and oil passages line up? What do you use
for head gaskets and bolts ? Are there any intake or exhaust manifold
problems? Any info would be a big help.

I would start by c.c.ing the heads to find out what it will do for
your compression ratio and then use the 2.5 head gaskets. Your intake
manifold probably won't fit and I don't know about the passages as
there are a few different versions of heads. I would check this
carefully. There is also a new version of plastic out for the front of
the engine. You will probably have to buy this as it is almost
non-existant used. I would be sure to get the new version.(with belt
guides)

99 2.5 RS heads on a 2.2T block
You will also need to find a different source for an oil supply for
the turbo as the 2.5 heads do not have the fittings on the right head.
Same goes for the oil return I think I know where you may be able to
get an oil pan that is modified for this. I would not try the "dump it
in the valve cover" method this has drawbacks.

99 2.5 RS heads on a 2.2T block
Another member tried this and found that it's a shaky fit, at best,
and that time spent on the stock heads could make some marked
improvements. It's no substitute for DOHC, but at least everything
was made to fit.

Do a search in the archives. There was some serious in depth discussion about this. As Dave said....it's not probably the best route to go.

I think it would make more sense to install the 2.5 engine after
fitting forged pistons of a suitable compression ratio wouldn't it.
You would gain 300 cc and have a better bottom end if it is what they
call a ver 3 engine.
