Parking brake rubbing

Post by 93Subadan »

While replacing my rear pads and rotors I noticed that my parking brake is ever so slightly rubbing against the inside of the rotor with the brake disengaged. Is this normal? Is there an adjustment or would I need to replace the retaining springs? Thanks!

You can adjust it. There's a little spur between the shoes on the bottom. If you turn that, it will either make the shoes wider or narrower inside the rotor. There's a spring that goes between the teeth of the spur for automatic adjustment, but you can always adjust it manually. You just need a screwdriver.
